Gretchen completed a Bachelor of Arts at Otago University, before working in Sydney and then returning to Canterbury University to complete her law degree. Gretchen joined RMF in 2000, and at that time found herself as the only female practising law in Ashburton. After spending eight years as a partner of RMF, Gretchen retired from the partnership in March 2018 in order to spend more time with her family however, she continues her role with the firm as a Consultant.
Gretchen assists many of RMF’s commercial clients, and her expertise lies in advising clients on buying and selling homes, commercial property and, lifestyle and rural properties. She has a particular skill in employment matters, including restructuring, and advises both employers and employees. She enjoys assisting people with asset planning matters including trusts, wills and estate planning. Gretchen also assists clients with criminal court matters, and acts as a Youth Advocate for young people in the justice system.
Outside of her work, Gretchen keeps busy with several governance positions held within local community organisations. She also enjoys gardening, exploring New Zealand and the world, and is a keen tennis player.
